We welcome
students of all ages and of all levels of riding including our
basic riding program as well as jumping and dressage lessons.
Our basic riding program is designed for the beginner child or
adult rider and therefore taught in a relaxed and fun manner.
Most importantly, we emphasize basic horse care and the
importance of horse and rider being able to communicate and to
share a special bond. Our trainers teach a basic balanced seat
position for laying the proper foundation for jumping, dressage
or simply confident pleasure riding.
We can assist you in identifying reasonable expectations as well
as in achieving individually set goals in a positive and
constructive manner. This can be accomplished by taking lessons
on our school horses or on your own horse. Partial leasing of
school horses available on a limited basis.
As the comfort level and proficiency increases, our riding
students usually move on to jumping and dressage.
Kathleen Mitchell is our resident dressage trainer who boards
two horses at Misty Farms. When she came to Misty Farms in
October, 2007, Marina immediately recognized Kathleen's talent
when she saw her ride her TB who was a shut down jumper. Within
5 months of Kathleen's training, Connar's suspension and self
carriage speaks highly of Kathleen's ability as a dressage rider
and trainer. Kathleen has earned her bronze and silver medal
through USDF, and has qualified for three consecutive North
American Young Riders Competitions. She was a working student
for Michael Poulin and has ridden under Major Anders Lundgren,
the late Franz Rochowansky, Linda Alicki and Robert Dover. She
has the ability to impart her knowledge to students in a logical
and simplistic manner as she "talks" the student through every
move. Whether your goals are to be an upper level dressage rider
or merely to improve your performance on the jumper course by
improving your seat and your horse's self carriage, Kathleen can
assist you with both."
Claudia Harris, a local trainer, travels from her nearby farm to
ours to teach jumping and dressage and can school our students
over cross country courses at various locations. See

We are an open barn and outside trainers are welcome to teach
our students subject to our approval.
